Indonesia public works sets earthquake darmage compensation

Indonesia public works department plans to provide compensation of Rp.750.000 (US$80) for every square metre of redsidential bulding destroyed in the 27 may earthquake up to a limit og Rp30 million per household. This aid for affected communities in central java and DI Yogyakarta should lead to faster reconstruction using local materials and labour.

Owners of 135.000 homes that were heavily damaged or the 1888.000 homes that were lightly damaged can expect to receive up to rp.20 million and rp.10 million for each home respectively accoding to the department secretary general roestam sjarief.
